Class V Presents Mini-Operas

Class V Composition students recently brought their creativity to life in an exciting and ambitious project: two original mini-operas, written and performed entirely by the class. Drawing inspiration from well-known fairy tales—Goldilocks and the Three Bears and the Three Little Pigs—students reimagined familiar stories with their own unique twists, blending imagination with thoughtful storytelling.

From composing notes to writing lyrics to creating set decorations, every aspect of the productions was student-driven. This hands-on experience allowed them to explore the full creative process, collaborate closely with their peers, and gain a deeper appreciation for the many components that come together in a performance.

"They created these worlds to tell these stories in their own way, and I'm just blown away by their creativity," Director of Composition Programs Salomon Lerner said.

Their hard work and learning culminated in a performance on March 18, and were joyful and impressive showcases of Class V's teamwork and artistic expression.
