Observation to Embroidery

Class VI students in Design Principles and Techniques in 2D and 3D are bringing their artistic observations to life through embroidery. Earlier in the semester, students studied their own eyes through drawing and watercolor painting, using these observations as inspiration for their current textile work. They are now learning foundational embroidery techniques, including the backstitch to outline their designs and the long-and-short stitch to fill in the eye. Through this project, students are applying elements of design such as line, color, and texture while translating their work from paper to fabric.
