Practicing Smooth Transitions in Class VII Guitar
Class VII guitar students are refining their technique by learning to transition smoothly between chords while playing songs such as Oasis’s “Wonderwall” and Beyoncé’s “Halo.” Both songs feature transitions from C to Em, giving students the opportunity to practice changing chords without lifting their second finger from the string. Through this work, students are learning to approach chord sequences as connected movements rather than a series of separate hand positions, using fingers that remain in place as points of stability. This growing awareness reflects an important step in their musical development, as students build both technical precision and a deeper understanding of how chords connect.
